What is Procell Microchanneling?

By incorporating advanced stem cell technology, Procell delivers transformative results, helping clients achieve smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin without invasive procedures or downtime.

This treatment is highly versatile, making it ideal for addressing a wide range of skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, melasma, stretch marks, and overall skin tone and texture. With Procell Microchanneling, clients experience long-lasting improvements that enhance their natural beauty and confidence.

How Does Procell Work?

Procell Microchanneling combines the power of advanced technology with the science of regenerative skincare to deliver remarkable results. Here’s how it works:

How Does Procell Differ from Other Microneedling Treatments?

The Procell device is a new-generation, award winning device, that utilises surgical-grade steel filaments small enough to fit into hair follicles. Due to the device’s stamp like precision, the protocol does not call for a dragging action that may lead to skin tears and more damage than necessary. Utilising a tapping technique, it minimises skin injury, while the cell renewal process is still as effective. Because of these advantages the Procell Microchanneling devices are better suited to most skin conditions and for all Fitzpatrick skin types.

Although the art of Microchanneling is innovative, the pairing of this practice with stem cell derived growth-factor and cytokine serums is the secret to further raising the treatment outcomes to a much higher level.

As we age, our natural stem cells diminish and by middle age, only a small percentage remain, and those remaining are less robust.

The most popular serums used with traditional microneedling are usually ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid. However, they are less effective at cell-to-cell communication. The stem cell-derived growth factors and cytokines contained in the Procell Microchanneling serum support cellular renewal. The bioactive signalling molecules amplify cell-to-cell communication which stimulates pre-exisiting cells to greater levels of function in order to facilitate skin rejuvenation.

The Procell delivery system is derived from Recombinant growth factors which are lab-produced proteins that present a more effective and consistent alternative to human growth factors derived from mesenchymal stem cells.

There is no human tissue, DNA, blood or cells in the products.

The Dermascope award winning new-generation Procell Microchanneling devices and tips are on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) as well as the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority on the Web Assisted Notification of Devices (WAND) database.

What are Procell Growth Factors

Procell growth factors are bioengineered proteins designed to stimulate cellular regeneration and repair in the skin. These growth factors are often used in skincare treatments and products to promote healthier skin, improve texture, and reduce signs of ageing.

Here’s an overview of what they typically do:

  1. Stimulate Cell Renewal: Growth factors encourage the production of new skin cells, helping to repair damaged skin and improve overall skin health.
  2. Boost Collagen and Elastin: They can stimulate fibroblasts (cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin), which helps improve skin firmness, elasticity, and reduce wrinkles.
  3. Aid Wound Healing: Growth factors are involved in the natural healing process, making them effective in repairing skin damage caused by conditions like acne, sun exposure, or ageing.
  4. Improve Skin Tone and Texture: By encouraging cell turnover and collagen production, they can even out skin tone and smooth the skin’s surface.

In professional treatments, Procell growth factors are sometimes applied topically to enhance the treatment’s effectiveness. The combination of microchanneling (which creates micro-channels in the skin) and growth factors allows for better absorption and maximises results.

Procell Microchanneling FAQs

What is Procell Microchanneling, and how is it different from traditional microneedling?

Microchanneling is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates your skin’s own natural ability to generate collagen, elastin, and other building blocks of healthy skin. Unlike traditional microneedling, which typically drags or rolls across the skin, Procell uses a stamping technique, designed to reduce the risk of tearing, and support a more comfortable recovery.

How does stem cell therapy work?

The serum applied during treatment contains growth factors that support cellular renewal and healing. As the microchanneling device creates tiny channels in the skin, these growth factors work alongside the body’s natural repair process to boost collagen production and improve skin texture. Although the term ‘stem cell’ is used, please note, for safety reasons the Procell serum contains no human tissue, DNA or blood cells.

What skin conditions can be treated with Microchanneling?

Procell microchanneling can achieve long-lasting improvements for a number of skin conditions including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, pigmentation and sunspots, skin tone, surgical scars, melasma, enlarged pores, stretch marks, skin tightening, overall skin rejuvenation, and even hair loss.

Is it safe for all skin types?

Procell is generally well suited to a broad range of skin types, as it’s a minimally invasive treatment, and is safe on all Fitzpatrick Types. As with any skin treatment, a proper skin assessment is part of every consultation.

Are there any reasons someone shouldn't have this treatment?

Yes – treatment isn’t suitable for everyone. This includes those who are pregnant, have uncontrolled diabetes, have an active Herpes Simplex outbreak in the treatment area, or have an active inflammatory skin condition (such as eczema, psoriasis, infection, rash, or dermatitis) at the treatment site. A full list of contraindications will be discussed during your consultation.

What needle depth is used, and how is it chosen?

Treatment usually starts conservatively and can be adjusted based on comfort and desired results. Hair regrowth treatments use a specific depth chosen to best stimulate the scalp. Your practitioner will guide this based on your treatment goals and comfort.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe mild discomfort – a light pinprick or tingling sensation, particularly in more sensitive areas. There’s no lingering pain, and most people describe a “tight” feeling in the skin afterward. Numbing cream isn’t always necessary but can be used if needed when deeper needle depths are required (except for hair regrowth treatments).

Is there downtime?

Downtime is generally minimal. For lighter treatment depths, redness typically settles within a few hours. Deeper treatments may take a few days for any pinpoint marks to resolve. The aftercare serum is also designed to support the skin’s healing process and help minimise downtime.

How should my face look immediately following a treatment?

Reaction to treatment varies – from little to no visible response, through to a pink or red flush, or some pinpoint marks at deeper treatment levels. This is a normal part of the healing process, and your practitioner will provide aftercare guidance to support your results.

How often can I have treatment, and how many sessions will I need?

Treatments are generally spaced around 4 weeks apart. The number of sessions needed depends on what’s being treated. Lighter concerns may need just a few sessions, while deeper scarring or more significant concerns may require more. Hair regrowth treatments typically require a longer course. This will be tailored to you during your consultation.

When will I start seeing results?

Some clients notice a glow in the days following treatment, with more visible improvements typically building from the second session onward. Skin renewal continues for some weeks after each treatment. Hair regrowth results take longer to appear, generally several months, as hair follicles move through their natural growth cycle.

Can this be combined with other treatments?

In some cases, yes – but combining treatments should always be discussed with your practitioner first, as it can affect downtime and recovery. We’ll advise you on what’s appropriate for your specific treatment plan.

What's in the Procell serum, and how is it made?

The serum uses bioengineered growth factors and cytokines designed to support the skin’s natural regeneration process, alongside ingredients that help address the visible effects of sun exposure over time. Two serum strengths are available and are selected based on individual needs during consultation.

What's involved in aftercare?

A simple, two-step aftercare routine is recommended to support your results between sessions. Your practitioner will walk you through this, along with any other post-treatment guidance specific to your skin. For more information on after care products, you can view our Procell After Care Page.

How long does a session take?

Sessions generally take around 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area. This includes time for a pre-cleanse, and hydration mask after your treatment. We advise to allow for approximately 90 minutes for your first session, so we have time for consultation and to go through any questions you may have.

What should I do after my treatment?

  • Avoid touching your face for the first two hours
  • Apply the recommended aftercare products as instructed by your practitioner
  • Avoid sun exposure and intense heat (e.g. sauna, gym) for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid retinoids, vitamin C, and exfoliants for 5–7 days

How long do results last?

Results can be long-lasting, though this varies by individual, treatment area, and lifestyle factors. Ongoing maintenance treatments can help support and extend your results over time.

Is Procell an approved/registered treatment device?

Yes. Procell’s microchanneling devices and treatment tips are registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia as a Class 1 Medical Device (ARTG entry 392111), and with Medsafe New Zealand.
